RAD 2026

23 – 27 April

Artists: Robert Andacs, Mihaela Coanda, Anastasia Dumitrescu, Ada Muntean, Ioana Tocoaie.

This presentation brings together five artists who approach the image as something to be taken apart and rebuilt. Each begins from a recognizable point, a chair, a body, a landscape, a figure, but refuses to leave it intact.

For Robert Andacs, this happens through reduction: familiar objects are isolated and stripped of context until they hold a quieter, more introspective weight. Mihaela Coandă constructs spaces that feel suspended rather than described, where forms, architectural or bodily, drift between structure and intuition, drawing on influences based in some of the modern greats. Ada Muntean works directly on the body as image, fragmenting and reassembling it into something both present and unstable. In Ioana Tocoaie’s paintings, figures mutate and merge with their surroundings, building a kind of personal mythology that resists fixed identity. Anastasia Dumitrescu shifts the focus outward, tracing spaces where human and non-human elements overlap, and where landscape becomes a carrier of hidden structures and memory.

What connects these practices is a shared refusal to stabilize meaning. Instead of presenting images as resolved, they hold them in a state of adjustment – cut, displaced, or reconfigured – so that looking becomes an active process. The familiar is still there, but it no longer behaves the way you expect it to.
