This exhibition presents a new body of work by Ada Muntean, bringing together graphic and painted compositions that explore the intersection of memory, imagination, and the subconscious. The title proposes a deliberate contradiction: the blade, typically associated with harm, is reimagined as soft and almost tender. Within this framework, the wound is no longer a sign of pain alone but becomes a site of memory and transformation. The works function as layered constructions in which fragments of past experiences overlap with present perception, forming a kind of emotional archaeology situated between fiction and reality.
Muntean places strong emphasis on materiality, treating the surface as an active medium that invites a tactile, intimate engagement. Memory is understood as a scar, while existence itself becomes a “soft blade,” suggesting a continuous negotiation between past traces and present experience. Meaning emerges through this tension, where proximity, sensation, and reflection reshape how reality is perceived.
